The Days I Feel Most Like Myself

There is something about this part of the cycle that feels effortless in a way I can never quite recreate on demand. My energy feels higher, my thoughts feel clearer, and suddenly I want to be part of the world again instead of watching it from a distance.

After the gradual rebuilding of the follicular phase, ovulation feels like arriving.

I notice myself feeling more confident without trying. Conversations flow easier. Getting dressed feels more fun. My to-do list looks less intimidating. Even simple things like running errands or meeting a friend for coffee feel lighter somehow.

Instead of searching for motivation, I feel like I already have it.

So rather than slowing down, I lean into the energy while it is here. Not because I need to be productive every second, but because this phase naturally gives me a little more capacity. These are the things I find myself reaching for during ovulation when I feel most connected, confident, and energized.

Being social
This is usually the phase where I want to be around people. I feel more talkative, more expressive, and more interested in making plans. Lunch dates, girls’ nights, family gatherings, phone calls, and spontaneous outings all sound much more appealing.

Speaking up
I notice I communicate more easily during this phase. Whether it is sharing an idea, leading a meeting, having an important conversation, or simply expressing what I need, words seem to come with less effort and more confidence.

Finishing big projects
My focus feels strongest here. This is often when I want to wrap up projects, tackle larger tasks, and follow through on ideas I started earlier in my cycle. Everything feels a little more manageable.

More challenging workouts
This is usually when my body feels capable of handling higher-intensity movement. Running, circuit training, spinning classes, dance workouts, HIIT sessions, and strength training often feel more energizing than exhausting.

Protein and healthy fats
Supporting this energy matters. I try to build meals around protein, healthy fats, and fiber-rich foods that help me stay fueled throughout the day. Fish, avocado, nuts, seeds, and balanced meals tend to leave me feeling my best.

Colorful fruits and vegetables
Berries, leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and other antioxidant-rich foods become easy additions during this phase. Fresh foods seem especially appealing when my energy is naturally higher.

Staying hydrated
Hydration becomes even more important here. I find myself reaching for extra water throughout the day, sometimes adding chlorophyll drops or simply carrying a larger water bottle so I remember to keep drinking.

Leaning into confidence
There is something about ovulation that makes me want to put on a favorite outfit, wear the bold lipstick, curl my hair, or spend a little extra time getting ready. Not for anyone else, but because I genuinely enjoy it.

Getting outside
Fresh air feels especially good during this phase. Walks with friends, afternoon sunshine, and time outdoors seem to amplify the energy and help me feel even more connected to myself.

Appreciating the glow
The biggest thing I have learned is that confidence is not always something I have to manufacture. Sometimes it naturally shows up when my body is supported and working with me instead of against me.

There is something comforting about knowing this phase is part of the cycle too. Not because I should always feel this energized, social, or productive, but because it reminds me that every season serves a purpose.

The menstrual phase teaches me to rest. The follicular phase teaches me to begin again. The ovulation phase teaches me to step forward and be seen. And the luteal phase reminds me to slow down, reflect, and come home to myself.

Each phase offers something different, and none of them are meant to last forever. The beauty is learning how to work with them instead of expecting myself to feel exactly the same every single day.

For a few days, everything feels a little easier, a little more vibrant, and a little more possible. And honestly, that feels like something worth celebrating.
