Midnight Fudge Brownies (Because Why Not?)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chunks

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a small pan over medium heat place butter and stir frequently. (it will foam thats what we need)
  • Remove once butter is golden brown and brown bits have formed at the bottom of the pan. (you kitchen should smell nutty and rich at this point)
  • Place brown butter in a heat safe bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Once butter is warm add granulated sugar and combine then following with the brown sugar and set a side.
  • In a mixing bowl combine cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Combine both mixtures making sure the brown butter has completely cooled first.
  • Gently fold in flour and chocolate chunks with a spatula.
  • In a 8×8 pan lined with parchment paper, pour batter and bake for 24 minutes.
  • Enjoy with a big scoop of vanilla and absolutely zero regrets.

Tips:

  • Use a light colored pan to see the color change.
  • Cut butter into cubes to melt evenly.
  • Do not keep butter in the pan. (the heat will continue to cook the butter causing it to burn)
