Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chunks
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- In a small pan over medium heat place butter and stir frequently. (it will foam thats what we need)
- Remove once butter is golden brown and brown bits have formed at the bottom of the pan. (you kitchen should smell nutty and rich at this point)
- Place brown butter in a heat safe bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Once butter is warm add granulated sugar and combine then following with the brown sugar and set a side.
- In a mixing bowl combine cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, eggs and vanilla extract.
- Combine both mixtures making sure the brown butter has completely cooled first.
- Gently fold in flour and chocolate chunks with a spatula.
- In a 8×8 pan lined with parchment paper, pour batter and bake for 24 minutes.
- Enjoy with a big scoop of vanilla and absolutely zero regrets.
Tips:
- Use a light colored pan to see the color change.
- Cut butter into cubes to melt evenly.
- Do not keep butter in the pan. (the heat will continue to cook the butter causing it to burn)
