Apparently women need a girls night every 22 days. I don’t know who decided that but honestly they’re probably right. Making new friends as an adult is hard everyone’s busy, tired, or somewhere between a work deadline and a grocery run. So consider this your gentle reminder to light a candle, pour something warm and plan a night in.
These eleven ideas work for any version of friendship the whole group chat, that one best friend who feels like home, or if you’d rather spend it solo, or let your man play honorary “girl” for the night that totally counts too. They’re fun, cozy, a little nostalgic and filled with just the right amount of fall magic.
- Autumn Bake Off: Pumpkin loaf, apple crumble, maple cookies, etc there are no winners only full hearts and sticky counters.
- Candlelight Dinner on the Floor: Dim lights, fairy lights and takeout containers spread across a blanket. Fancy in the way that only fall nights can be.
- Dream & Plan Night: Talk about the futures you want, the trips you’ll take and the people you’ll become all under the soft glow of twinkle lights.
- Fall In Love Potions: Everyone makes their own drink apple cider, pumpkin chai, or cinnamon cocktails (you get it) and name it after a romcom.
- Fall Scrapbook & Sleepover: Bring old photos and old stories. Make a memory book of all your favorite fall moments. (Glitter, washi tape and laughter required.)
- Halloweentown & Hot Chocolate: Light a pumpkin candle, slip on your favorite PJs, and rewatch the entire Halloweentown series like it’s 2004 again.
- The Nostalgia Night: Old CosmoGirl quizzes, a playlist of early 2000s hits and popcorn with way too much butter.
- Pasta & Pajamas: Everyone brings a different pasta dish (bonus points for something creamy) and you sit around laughing like it’s a scene straight out of The Princess Diaries sleepover.
- Soft Craft Night: Knit, paint, or make fall bracelets together. The activity doesn’t matter it’s about the calm, the laughter and the tea refills.
- TV, but It’s Autumn: Watch vintage fall episodes of your favorite shows. Snacks: popcorn, drinks and nostalgia. (My picks: Gilmore Girls and Friends obviously.)
- Vintage Halloween Movie Night: Curl up with Casper, The Addams Family, and Practical Magic. Light candles, pour apple cider and pretend the world outside doesn’t exist.
