Kitchen Magic, New Traditions and Weekend Bliss

Good morning readers.

It’s Friday, which means I’m here for our weekly check in. Although I have been toying with the idea of moving these to Saturdays. Saturday mornings feel slower, a little more romantic. I have not decided yet. I am still thinking it over.

My birthday weekend was perfect. Truly. My husband makes it special every single year and somehow still surprises me. I am beyond grateful for him. He is the kind of man who is steady, thoughtful and genuinely good. An amazing husband and an incredible human being. I am very lucky I get to love him.

In less romantic news, apparently we have six more weeks of winter. The groundhog is adorable I will give him that, but who exactly let him decide the weather? I am ready for summer. I want beach days and salty hair. I want to tan, soak in the sun and come home tired in the best way. February always makes me crave warmth like it is a necessity.

Until then, we have football season wrapping up.

I never watched football before I met my husband. I truly married into this sport, and our kids will be born into it too. In our house, the Super Bowl means good food, good company, and all the cozy vibes that make a cold February weekend fun. I am making four different wing flavors and I am embarrassingly excited. I love wings and cooking, especially in this kitchen.

This kitchen is a dream. There is so much counter space compared to our apartment, which is obvious, but it feels luxurious every time I spread out ingredients. It has that Nancy Meyers charm. Not too modern, not overly traditional. Just warm and inviting. I am missing a few pieces of decor to complete it, but I’m obsessed with spending time there.

My husband officially started working on the fence this week. He planned to get more done over the weekend, but rain is in the forecast so we will pick it back up next week. Home projects always look so simple on Pinterest until you try them yourself.

This weekend we are planning an at home date night. Takeout, a movie, and game night. We started a new tradition where every Friday is game night. We are slowly building a board game collection, and I cannot help but imagine it turning into family game night one day with our babies sitting around the table. I love traditions that start small.

On a completely different note, I have been learning how to perm hair so I can do my own at home. I love practicing on my husband, so there is a strong chance he will be walking around with a full head of curls this weekend. He is a very good sport.

Since I am not working right now, I have had more time than usual. I enjoy the slower pace. The quiet mornings. The ability to cook, plan and dream. But I want to use this season well. Something productive but still peaceful. I have been considering pottery, although those machines are not cheap. Still, the idea of shaping something with my hands feels meaningful.

So here we are:
A birthday that felt full and sweet.
Six lingering weeks of cold air.
A kitchen that still feels like a dream every time I turn on the lights.
A half built fence waiting for clear skies.
And me, craving the beach, savoring unhurried mornings and building this little life one cozy tradition at a time.
