Extra Hours, Saturday Game Night and Packages Waiting for Me

Good afternoon you beautiful readers. I’m writing to you a day later than planned mostly because I picked up a few extra shifts at work. I’ll probably be writing to you all on Saturdays this month. The holiday season has me budgeting like a girl with a dream and a Pinterest board, and honestly why are couches so expensive? I don’t mind the extra hours though. I want a really beautiful couch and with all the furniture purchases ahead of us a little overtime feels worth it.

We’re getting so close. The house is almost complete. Electrical is in, plumbing is nearly there, the concrete and countertop are next, and then once it’s all physically done we have more paperwork, of course. My husband talked to the contractor this week and he said they might be able to finish everything before Christmas if the weather behaves. The idea of moving in during the softest, sparkliest part of December feels like the sweetest little dream.

The only downside is that these extra shifts have had me absolutely exhausted. I came home the other night feeling like a tired little noodle. But today I feel better. Calmer. More relaxed.

Today we went to a sports bar to watch UGA play Alabama because that’s what our household does when there’s a big game on. We can’t watch without wings. Non negotiable. The place was new to us and I wasn’t the biggest fan of their sauce but Buffalo Wild Wings was too far and the game was starting, so we made it work.

Later tonight I’ll unwind with a bubble bath, pouring a glass of wine and curling up with my show. One of those self care resets that feels warm.

And then there were the packages. All the Black Friday things I ordered started arriving one by one and everything looked amazing. I went to the mall on Friday but most of the things I wanted in my size were sold out so I ordered everything online and honestly loved every single item.

The best purchase of all might have been for my fur babies. I grabbed the Bark advent calendar thinking it was just treats but no it’s also toys. Plural. My big pups go feral every time I bring out the box and I’m not entirely sure how long anything inside that little cardboard house is going to survive, but their excitement was worth every penny. Sometimes you see something, think of your babies and toss it in the cart without a second thought.

So here we are:
One house inching closer to finished.
One bubble bath that fixed everything.
One silly advent calendar making two big dogs act like Christmas morning came early.
A stack of Black Friday packages that actually lived up to the hype.
And me here feeling grateful, rested and a little more ready for the week ahead.
